The 4th Nigerian Direct Diaspora Investment Summit (NDDIS) 3 day event took place in London from Thursday the 13th – Saturday the 15th.
Unfortunately, Governor Akinwumi Ambode of Lagos state wasn’t able to make it. The NDDIS Chairman and Executive director, Chief Roberts Bimbo Folayan made the event a success with his team, industry leaders, head of Federal and Stage governments parastatals from Nigeria and the UK.
In attendance includes; Chief Roberts Bimbo, the president and organiser, Iyalode Alaba Lawson, the president of the Nigerian Chamber of Commerce, Industry Mines and Agriculture, Honourable Abike Dabiri Erewa Senior Special Assistant to president Muhammed Buhari on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim, Pantami, the director general of the National Information Technology Development Agency. Ayo Akinfe Editor Nigerian Watch, David Smith, Jennifer Obasek, Community leaders amongst others great individuals.
NDDIS is formed to address the questions being raised by Nigerians in diaspora who want to engage between investors in the UK and Nigeria. During the 3 days event, NDDIS answered to all these concerns mostly in the areas of Agriculture, Retail, Property, Mining, Financial Investments and Entrepreneurism.
Speakers from Nigeria on the other hand acknowledged that they need to attract foreign direct investment, boost manufacturing and diversify their economies. Another key-fact discussion that came out of the event was the realisation that other states in Nigeria need to emulate Lagos when it comes to internally generated revenue.
The event, an opportunity to brainstorm, exchange ideas between innovative, inventive and creative minds of Nigerians in the Diaspora and visitors from Nigeria in one roof was achieved.
The well organised event was a huge success with great turnout which rounded up with dinner and dance party at the Holiday Inn in Kensington on the last day.
