Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has opened up about her struggle with depression and how it led to her almost taking her life.
Tonto Dikeh says she got suicidal 10 years ago while suffering from excruciating pain.
The movie star made this know via her Instagram page on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, while reacting to the heartbreaking video of a Nigerian-American identified as Izuchukwu Madubueze who committed suicide after he was wrongly accused of sexual harassment.
According to the movie star, the pain got so bad that she began to believe God didn’t love her. Tonto revealed that she picked the perfect day to end her life.
She said: “This was me 9/10 years ago, I’m here because I believed there was much more to life than my suitation… I wanted to badly believe God DIDNT hate me, I wanted to badly stop the hurt but it just kept coming so strong. I knew I was ready, I mean the pain was Excruciating.. Today was a perfect day to die I said.”
The mother of one noted that she snapped out of her suicidal thoughts after realizing how much God loves her. She went on to thank music moguls Don jazzy and Teebillz for coming to her rescue at that moment.
“SMH God spared me, God showed me how much love he had for me that day.. Shoutout to @teebillz323 @donjazzy for coming to my rescue, I honestly pray for you everyday,” She added

Izuchukwu was accused of sexual harassment by a lady on social media. He killed himself following several failed attempts to take his name off a register that contains the names of men who has been accused or convicted of sexual-related crimes.
