It is a heartbreaking moment for popular Nollywood actress and politician Funke Akindele, who recently lost her mother, Dr RB Adebanjo-Akindele.
According to the statement released by Olubunmi Akindele on behalf of the family, the actress’ mother passed away on February 7.
The statement read:
“It is with heavy hearts, but in total submission to God Almighty that the ADEBANJO and AKINDELE families announce the passing of their daughter, mother, grandmother and sister, DR. R B ADEBANJO-Akindele, which occurred on Tuesday 07 February 2023.
May her gentle soul begin its rest eternal in peace. Amen. Obsequies in honour of her passing shall be announced in due course.”

The devastating news came months after Funke Akindele Bello penned a sweet birthday message to her mother in celebration of her birthday.
Taking to Instagram on Sunday, June 18, Funke Akindele appreciated her mother for being so selfless and kind.
She noted how the lessons and mentorship she has given her have helped shape her into the woman she is today.
She prayed for many more years of health and wealth for herself.

Pastor Paul Adefarasin’s mother, Hilda, dies at 98.
It was reported days ago that the senior pastor of House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, had announced the death of his mother, Hilda.
She passed away on Sunday evening, February 5th, at 98.
In a statement on Monday, Pastor Paul wrote: “We thank the Almighty God for the life of our mother, Mrs. Hilda Joanne Adefarasin (nee Petgrave), who passed unto glory peacefully in her home on the evening of Sunday, February 5, 2023, at the age of 98 years.
“Children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren survive her.
“As we reflect with gratitude over the illustrious life of service led by Mrs Hilda Joanne Adefarasin as she parented her children, doted on her husband, and impacted generations and communities, we are reminded of her unwavering love for our Lord, Jesus Christ.
“We covet your prayers and ask that you allow us these initial days to grieve privately.”
“Obsequies, the venue for condolence visits, and visiting hours will be announced soon.”
This is coming just three weeks after his mother marked her 98th birthday.
