“Doctors Don’t Encourage Kidney Harvesting” My Wife Agreed To Donate Her Kidney – Eedris Abdulkareem

The Nigerian hip hop, R n B and Afrobeat artist, Eedris Abdulkareem recently confirms the identity of his kidney donor, which is his wife, Yetunde.

The singer has been diagnosed of kidney failure and the date for the transplant surgery has earlier been fixed.

The loving couple have being married since 2003 and had 3 children from the marriage. The couple are often away from public eyes, and Yetunde has been on a low profile even though she’s married to a legendary celebrity.

The singer in one of his posts, said he is strong and ready for a kidney transplant after fans reportedly raised over N1m for his surgery via his GoFundMe, a platform friends and colleagues used to organized a crowdfunding campaign for his treatment.

The NIgerian Jaga Jaga singer who is currently undergoing dialysis reaches out and commends all the supports and prayers he’s been getting so far.

THS MORNING AT THE HOSPITAL

Hi my people, this is me undergoing my weekly dialysis regime in high spirit and with strong belief in the efficacy of your prayers, love and care!

In a recent development during an August 13 event hosted in his honour via zoom. The singer said.

“The doctor said they don’t encourage kidney harvesting, selling of kidneys and all that, that the donor has to be a family member, a friend, you know; whether your daughter or your brother or your son, you know”

Eedris however revealed that he would have had to wait for about two years to get an organ donor had his wife not stepped up to offer hers.

“So right there, my wife decided to take all the tests, and from all the tests she took, everything came out positive that she was compatible with me.”

Being grateful to family, friends and even colleagues in the industry for the support and assistance rendered, he says;

“I want to thank my wife, I want to thank Baba Dede Mabiaku, Sister Mariam for putting the GoFundme together, thank my brother Chidi, thank my brother E-money, thank Chief Allen Onyema, thank everybody who has supported me, Nigerians in Diaspora, Nigerians in Nigeria…”
