The reality star says black women in the business world go through a lot as she narrates her bitter experience.

Former Big Brother Naija star Venita Akpofure has taken to social media to recount how she lost a lucrative deal with an established real estate company after dismissing sexual advances from one of the company’s top staffer.

Venita shared a Twitter thread via her page on Tuesday in which she opened up about the sexual harassment.

The reality star stated in her post that she was excited to go into business with the real estate comapy as the deal was promising.

However, things took another turn when the company’s media head took a liking to her. According to the former housemate, the man told her she looked like his ex-wife and began to make inappropriate gestures at her in one of their time together.

Venita said the deal fell through after reporting the incident to the company’s CEO.

At the end of her gripping narration, the mother of one noted that she later found another exciting brand to work with, and the reason why she decided to tell her story now is to encourage women out there not to give up on their dreams in the face of difficulties and challenges.

She wrote:

“This industry is not beans. All is smoke and mirrors. I prayed to God to be able to provide security for my girls. Some time ago I was to go into business with a real estate company. Was so excited for my first home which was heavily discounted on the journey of independence.

“The company was well established and boasted a roster of worthy influencers. I was welcomed and I felt at home with the brand. Unfortunately for me the “media head” who also has a similar industry background, decided I looked like his ex wife and carried my matter on his head.

“Even when I was gifted penthouse hotel experience for my birthday, he insisted on spending the night as “he couldn’t go home and had early island appt. I actually left the whole suite for him and went home as I will not subject myself to any inappropriate circumstances.

“I decided he had really crossed all professional boundaries and honestly he was not anyway involved with my dealings because I had a direct plug. I reported him to the CEO. He was asked to vacate my suite immediately the next morning. And was infuriated.

“Upon further investigation, myself and his colleagues learned he was given money to prep gifts for me and needless to say he probably only spent 5k from what was allocated which was comfortably hundreds of thousands. The guy was just beyond crooked.

“Anyways fast forward. Although I was apologised to and we moved on, I never saw my contract again despite asking severally, (which was not concluded and as a result unsigned as the lawyer now refused to bring it out). Long n short, Conclusively my discounted house disappeared. The CEO no longer took calls. Everything suddenly vanished.

“The CEO no longer took calls. Everything suddenly vanished. Fast forward to now. Truthfully What is yours is yours and man cannot take it. No need to talk too much. Ladies do not be afraid to draw your lines clearly. Especially in business.”

UK Mother, Her 8 & 5 Year Old Children’s Amazing Achievements Gains Public Recognition

0

It’s not often you hear of a mother and her children being fortunate in each having separate books published simultaneously, but that’s exactly what happened for Janelle Victory Pamphile and her daughter Annalise 8 and son Madiba 4 years old.

All three have had books published and their achievements have gained public recognition.

Janelle, in her book entitled Pain Passes but the Beauty Remains Forever, shares a message of courage, hope and perseverance to help others find the strength to never give up. Janelle’s childhood was not ideal. Her father was an alcoholic, and as in many families of an alcoholic this, unfortunately, led to domestic abuse, so she knows intimately the devastating effect this can have. Now she does her part to bring awareness to these issues, and to help those in need.

Janelle Victory Pamphile

In her book, she speaks from a passionate heart and believes that prayer and believing in God’s power is one of the purest ways to touch and communicate with the hearts of the audience. She believes it all comes down to choice and taking responsibility for the direction of your life. Janelle is proof that you don’t have to allow adversity to hold you down in life; you have a fascinating and inspiring destiny awaiting you.

Her achievements have inspired her children to also put pen to paper.

5-year-old Madiba who attends the Stonebridge Primary School in Harlesden is autistic yet and, in his book, Madiba Inspires Black Boys With Speech Disorder To Think Big!!, writes about how parents can help their children who may have speech disorders and what methods can be used help them overcome.

Madiba, age 5

Speaking of her son, Janelle says, “what is so amazing about my son is that he was born very ill and the doctors had given up on him but as his mother, I fought the ‘good fight’ and although he is also an autistic child that did not stop him from aspiring to be great. He is so calm and communicates wonderfully, he is the star of his Stonebridge Primary School and I give a lot of thanks and praise God for healing him.”

The Mayor of Brent has praised Madiba for his courage and the Queen has written to him expressing how impressed she is.

Janelle’s daughter Annalise, is a very industrious and tenacious 8-year-old. Her passion for kindness started at a very young age of 3 when her mother realised that her daughter had indeed been blessed with a gift of really reaching out to people and showing love and kindness. Her book is entitled Annalise Inspires.

Children to Be Kind: Allowing Kids to Express Their Feelings! inspires children to be kind.

Annalise, age 8

Of her daughter’s success, Janelle says, “As mum to these delightful kids I am indeed very honoured and proud. This is such a big achievement for such little children, their books are touching lives all over the world. I wanted to show my children they do not have to go to the best schools to have a world-class mentality and to add to that, both my children have special needs and learning issues we have to deal with on a day-to-day basis. I’m happy that they both are making history as the youngest authors in their school.”

In her own book on domestic abuse, Janelle says, “Too few people talk about domestic abuse and honour-based violence. With two women dying every week in the UK due to domestic violence, and an estimated 2.1 million men and women suffering domestic abuse in the UK, these statistics should be a more prominent topic in society.”

Janelle courageously uses her father’s ‘mess’ as a message to help others and is of the belief that people can go through painful experiences in their lives and still find the strength to transform their lives to help others. She has been invited to speak at parliament and was part of a prison ministry at her church, a means of encouraging inmates to also see that this does not have to be the end of their story.

Today she is ‘the people’s champion’ in her community of Harlesden and supports families affected by addiction and domestic violence where she is well known and respected. Janelle is proof that you don’t have to allow adversity to hold you down in life, you have a fascinating and inspiring destiny awaiting you.

‘Use of Left Hand Not a Taboo’ – Actress Kiki Omeili Calls For Cultural Change

0

The medical doctor turned film star insists the use of left hand is not a taboo and has tasked people to change their orientation as “ignorance isn’t culture.”

Actress Kiki Omeili has kicked against the culture that shames people who are left-handed by nature, likening it is to a subtle form of discrimination.

The movie star made this known Monday while reacting to a recent viral debate on social media centered around the morality of giving out things to people with left hand.

Kiki insisted in a Twitter thread on her page that there is nothing wrong with the act before going on to address those that have a problem with it.

Accordion to her, those who condemn the use of left hand because it is against cultural norm should see no wrong in the killing of twins as it was also dictated and presided by culture.

“If you say that using the left hand to give someone something is bad and our culture dictates that you must use your right hand, then you should also be okay with the killing of twins cos it was equally “culture”. Ignorance isn’t culture. Ignorant cultural beliefs can be unlearned,” the first of her tweets read.

Speaking further, Kiki tapped into her knowledge as a doctor to explain why people are inclined to use their left hand from birth and the challenges that come with it in a world where the vast majority are right-handed.

Kiki Omeili

She continued: “Only 11% of all the people in the world are left-handed. Left-handed people are right-brain dominant and right-handed people(the majority of people in the world ) are left-brain dominant. Bottom line, if a person is left-handed, it’s how they are wired.

“The world is generally designed for right-handed people so many people don’t understand the challenges that left-handed people face. Things like Scissors, tin cutters, even pencil sharpeners are designed for right-handed people.

“Think about it. If you’re right-handed, how would you feel if someone forced you to use your left hand to write and operate and you couldn’t function optimally? You’d be frustrated, right? That’s how left-handed people feel when you force them to use their right hand to do things.

“Let’s not hide ignorance under the blanket of “culture”. The same way people were educated to stop the killing of twins, we can be educated to stop castigating and shaming left-handed people. LEFT handedness is a function of the right side of your brain being dominant. #Nuff Said”

Banky W Criticizes FG NIN Directive Amid Pandemic, Star Calls For Revoke

0

The singer struggles to make sense of government willingness to have citizens gather en mass for NIN registration when there is a deadly virus out there.

Popular Nigerian singer Banky Wellington, professionally known as Banky W, has challenged the Federal Government’s decision to call for NIN registration across the country amid a second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, calling it “completely reckless.”

Banky let out a series of tweets via his Twitter page on Friday, January 22, 2021, criticizing those responsible for issuing such directive.

The music star stated in his post that it is “inconsiderate and dangerous” to have people congregate in large numbers for the sake of accquring NIN while Covid-19 continues to rage.

Banky W

Banky wrote: “In the middle of the pandemic, this is how our Nigerian Government has its citizens queuing up to get their NIN numbers. Completely reckless, inconsiderate and dangerous. Then tomorrow the NCDC will release covid infection rates and say social distancing. This country sha. Kai.”

The veteran musician who doubles down as a politician and CEO went further to call for a revoke of the directive, stressing that lives are still being lost to the virus.

He added: “@NCDCgov @NigeriaGov @ NGRPresident This is completely irresponsible of us as a country, to insist on this mad scramble for NIN numbers in the middle of Covid’s 2nd wave. People are dying. We should be smarter/wiser/better than this for goodness sake.”

Banky says timing of NIN registration not right

Nigerians have been made to get their National Identification Number (NIN) in wake of the Federal Government directive to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to update its SIM card database through NIN.

The NCC has, in turn, instructed telecommunications companies to block all SIM cards without identification in the country after February 9, 2021.
