American TV personality and host Wendy Williams in a recent interview with Forbes Women Magazine talked about why women lose out in marriage. she suggests that women should mind and think career in their 20s and marriage in their 30s. This story has been going around and we will like to know what our London based Africans in diaspora mothers, daughters, friends and family think about it. Do you agree? or is it different strokes for different folks?
Wendy Williams is known to be very outspoken, which leads to the success of her tv show “The Wendy Williams Show”. As she sat to have an interview with Moira Forbes of Forbes Woman Magazine, she talked about her successful career as a talk show host, and how she balances hectic work life with family life. She grew up as a middle child of a working class family in suburban New Jersey. Overweight, tall and “not the best student. She cites her misfit status as the driving fuel behind her relentless pursuit of success. “I want to live my life being a winner’, she said, “I’m a winner, even when I’m losing.”
In the interview however as reported by Forbes Women Mag, Wendy shares some words of advice with the ladies saying:
“My suggestion to women is always…use your entire 20s to work your behind off in your career… And then think about meeting that guy,” cautions the 50-year-old. “‘Cause we’re the ones that lose in marriage. Not men.”
She also feel like marriage and babies stunt a woman’s growth career-wise. “Once you get married and have kids, you can’t do all the things that you used to do and maintain this important precious thing that you built as a family.” she said.
