Wilson Oruma, a former Nigerian footballer who was captain of the U-17 World Cup winning side in 1993 reportedly suffered a relapse of the emotional disorder after being deceived by fake clergymen and fake oil businessmen.
The midfield maestro who played for teams like RC Lens, Nancy, Samsunspor, Nimes, Servette, Sochaux, Marseille, Guingamp, and Kavala FC of Greece retired from active football in 2010.
All this began about six years ago after losing billions to a clergyman and fake oil businessmen, His close friend Emakpor Dibofun told Complete Sports Nigeria.
“Wilson Oruma hasn’t really recovered from the emotional disorder which he suffered after he was duped. He has been to several places in search of a lasting solution, but it gets worse after a bit of improvement”. He added.
Nigerian international and former chairman of Lagos State Football Association, Waidi Akanni also elaborated how Oruma’s former teammates tried to help him.
“We have contacted some of his colleagues whom he played with during his days at the national team and there has been positive news regarding what we are trying to do. But nothing more I can discuss publicly just yet, but he needs help. We just pray all goes well, so we can help him out of this precarious situation. Waidi said.
