When The TRUTH Becomes a Two Aged Sword, What Do You Do?

0
Everything, just like that became waste, waste of time, waste of money and waste of love!
Augustine Ofili came a long way in life to be successful. After eventually making it, he cherished nothing more than his career, his supportive wife Uju, his two beautiful daughters and Son.

However, his world came crashing in London during a summer holiday with his wife and kids. Jenny his second daughter, fifteen years of age who was suffering from Iron deficiency anaemia suddenly collapsed while they were having a good time in London. This will reveal an old truth which will unleash Ofili’s worst nightmare.

Ofili and his family reside in Abuja, Nigeria where he manages a Mobile development Tech company with a group of partners.

He met his wife, Uju the first time 20 years ago during an event in Lagos after he secured his first major deal with a new Chinese telecom breaking into the African market. He connected with Uju who was a company secretary on that day and hit it off. They got married after one year of dating.

Two years after marriage, Uju finally conceived, this came after she realised she couldn’t get pregnant easily. She read many books, tried numerous sex position recommend and even tried some few local concussions recommended by friends and family.

When she gave birth to their first child, a beautiful healthy daughter, Ofili thanked God because that was the perfect time for him, the money from his years of hard work had eventually started rolling in, life got better. In 6 years, his wife blessed him with 3 children in total.

Ada, age 18, his first daughter is about to get into University and preparations are in works for her after being accepted in Queen Mary University of London. David, 14, whom people say is the carbon copy of his father enjoy living in Abuja because of the sun-kiss weather and only agrees to travel abroad to get the latest games and toys for his Play Station.

Jenny, 16 was doing just fine in school until she started feeling ill. She went been to a few doctors in Nigeria who couldn’t really specify what was wrong with her. Ever since becoming a teen, she misses school more than she attends, always complaining of pain and tiredness with a lousy headache.

Hence when summer arrived, they decided to have an all family holiday in London so that Ada can visit and find out more about Queen Mary, also so that Uju can be looked at and perhaps get the treatment she needs since doctors in Abuja or Lagos couldn’t really diagnose what is really wrong with her.

Just a couple of days after they arrived London, Jenny’s condition suddenly became an emergency case after she collapsed in the middle of Oxford Circles while shopping and had to be taken to the nearest hospital. The doctor said she needed an emergency blood transfusion. Ofili quickly offered to help his daughter, if one thing is certain, he knows his and Uju blood type is (AA), they found out about this earlier during their courtship days, just to make sure they’re compactable, something very common with middle and upper-class Nigerians. Indeed it was a relationship approved in heaven it was confirmed they were perfect for each other.

While trying to save his daughter, to his surprise, the doctors said he isn’t suitable to give his daughter blood, his genotype and blood type doesn’t match with his daughters who is an (AS).

After a quick investigation, Ofili found out that his other two children, Ada and David are also both (AS).

“It’s possible the children are not yours because a couple with both blood genotype AA can only have children with AA”. The doctor called Ofili into his office to explain and break down the news to him.

Ofili’s world came crumbling, was this even possible? He knows and trust his wife and doesn’t see her as one who would cheat on him.

When they got home that evening, he confronted his wife with the documented doctors report, an evidence. Hearing and seeing the truth, Uju collapsed. When she eventually woke up later that evening, she tried to explain to Ofili what might had happened. She was very shocked herself.

“After we were married for two years without a cry of a baby or any sign of conception, I got so worried and depressed. I read every book known and trying everything that can help me conceive” She cried.

“I had always kept in touch with my ex-boyfriend Kunle, whom you know very well”. She added taking a long breath before continuing.

“I stayed just friends with him after we got married and occasionally spoke on the phone. When I got stressed from not getting pregnant, I panicked and started confiding in him about my worries. We began meeting up for lunch, one thing leads to another, and we slept together.

Months later I found out I was pregnant, It was a one-off with him so I never thought anything of it. Finding out I was pregnant, I stayed away from Kunle for over a year. But we began meeting up again, just to catch up, yet again we slept together for the second time, months later I realised I was pregnant with Jenny, our second child. All this while I had always been with you Ofili and it never crossed my mind that those once every two-year fling with Kunle is the fruit of my children”. She cried.

The last time I slept with this Kunle, I’m sure he used a condom, that was when David was conceived. But then before giving birth, I decided to stop, a true Christian woman should be loyal to her husband. I love you dearly and values my marriage”. Uju said before she lost the courage to speak again.

Uju and her ex-boyfriend Kunle met once at an open place and had a mutual agreement to shut the casual intimacy down. Kunle was seriously seeing someone at the time, he got married and moved on.

This is the confession Uju had to make about her past, the only times she had been unfaithful, what were the odds that her ex-boyfriend fathered all her three children? She cried.

Ofili, a broken man, went for a further medical check-up as his doctor requested and found out that he is actually sterile and can’t father children of his own.

His life, the truth has become a two aged sword.

None of the children knows about the revolutionary dilemma devouring their parents.

What would this man do? Should he forgive his wife and love his children and carry on raising them?

Should he divorce Uju and walk away facing the truth? Should he let Uju suffer together with her spawns whom will eventually find out the truth in the future?

What should Ofili do?

Do you Know what that little pocket on our jeans is for?

0

In life and in the world of fashion precisely, there are few things that remain a mystery to us, and we never bother to find out. For some of us who are curious minds, it’s good to know the truth. One of this things is the small pocket in our jeans.

We’ve all learnt the significance of a particular piece of clothing that has had people baffled for generations. Well at least some of us are.

We all know that little pocket on our jeans? The one that doesn’t really function as a pocket due to its tiny size, that sits inside an actual pocket which does actually function as anything.

Thanks to someone who was particularly curious on forum who couldn’t live in a world where that pocket’s function wasn’t known have gone and discovered its use.

The small little pocket inside a pocket is actually for watches, designed for cowboys in the 1800s. But since we are in 2018 and we are, for the most part, not cowboys, these pockets have taken on new guises.

It says on the Levi Strauss website, “Originally included as protection for pocket watches, thus the name, this extra pouch has served many functions, evident in its many titles: frontier pocket, condom pocket, coin pocket, match pocket and ticket pocket, to name a few.”

So if you’re reading this, congratulations! you now know why you have those small pockets in your jeans.

Senegalese Rapper #Akon Wants to Run for President against Donald Trump in 2020

0

American-born Senegalese singer, Akon, 45, is seriously considering running for President against Donald Trump in 2020. He made his intentions known during Newsweek and would like to have a face off against Trump.

“I’ve been thinking about running for 2020 very seriously. But I didn’t want to just do it because I feel like I want to continue doing what I’m doing and hope that builds me enough momentum [for people] to say, ‘You know what, if you run we’ll support you.’”  He said.

On Donald Trump’s stance about the future of the country, Akon said “I feel a lot more unsafe,” he carried on saying.

“I feel unempowered. Honestly, I feel it’s gonna be a fight. I feel like I should be always prepared for the unexpected. I feel very uncomfortable.”

He continued, “And I feel a lot of Americans do; even some white Americans feel that way because they’re watching backlash of his decisions. It’s not what’s happening now, because it’s clear it’s creating a whole bunch of divide today. But I think tomorrow that impact is going to be so much more devastating.”

Speaking on how things were under previous President Barack Obama, before Trump took office in January 2017, the singer also added:

“We really came a long way to get people to come together, and look at each other as humans, and work towards a common cause,” he told the magazine. “And now it seems like everything that was done is being undone, with gangs and race groups reemerging. It’s just horrible.”

In a previous interview with Variety, Akon said he felt “personally disappointed” by Trump and reprimanded him and his organization for lack of empathy, adding that, the present circumstance in America made him think about a keep running for office, he told the magazine, “I’m running for the presidency if I do it. My target is the bully.”

DO YOU THINK AMERICA WOULD ALLOW AKON TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT?

Viola Davis & NBA Star Steph Curry Set to produce documentary on Charleston church shooting

0

Hollywood star, Viola Davis and NBA star Steph Curry will team up to produce a documentary based on the 2015 shooting in a Charleston, South Carolina, where self-identified white supremacist Dylann Roof killed 9 people atthe Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church.

The people behind Emanuel have been looking for a distribution partner and finally bagged two, Curry and Davis as executive producers set to produce the documentary through their respective production companies.

“June 17, 2015 served as a sad reminder of the power of racism,” Davis, along with Julius Tennon, said in a statement. “That evening, a routine bible study at Emanuel Church was a soft target based solely on the racial profile of the congregation. We, along with the country, grieved each family’s loss. Yet, miraculously, from this devastation, we witnessed tremendous benchmarks of humanity. The survivors found courage to love in the face of hate. JuVee is proud to be a part of this healing and truth telling along with Unanimous Media, Brian Ivie and John Shepherd.”

The movie which will be called “EMANUEL’, is set to be an incredibly powerful film.

“The documentary highlights how a horrible tragedy can bring a community together, and spreads an important message about the power of forgiveness. Stories like this are the reason we created Unanimous and entered the entertainment space. I hope the film inspires others like it does me.” Curry said.

The doc will include interviews with survivors and family members who were forced to come to terms with such a heinous act of violence while revealing how a moment so tragic was still able to bring a community together. Emanuel‘s producers describe the film as “a poignant story of justice and faith, love and hate, and the healing power of forgiveness.”

An Experiment? Sowore Wins European Coalition’s Presidential Online Election

0

Nigerian 2019 Presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore of the African Action Congress (AAC), was announced the winner of an online poll organised by the European Coalition for Security and Democracy in Nigeria (ECSDN).

The poll, which was organised on Youtube, took place on Thursday, November 1st. The election was targeted at Nigerians in the Diaspora but was featured on YouTube. Voters were expected to subscribe to the Youtube channel, then comment the name of their preferred candidate.

Voting took place for 90 minutes and Sowore, Publisher of SaharaReporters, polled 81.3 per cent of the total votes.

A statement by Dr Malcolm Fabiyi, Director General of the TakeItBack Movement/Sowore 2019 Campaign and Deputy National Chairman (Administration) of AAC, thanked supporters of the party for their efforts and restated the commitment of AAC to Nigeria’s development.

“We at the Take it Back Movement/African Action Congress party added one more feather to our cap today as we emerged successful in the online YouTube election organised by the European Coalition for Security and Democracy in Nigeria (ECSDN),” read the statement.

“The ECSDN have long been passionate in their agitation for a Nigeria that works for Nigerians, starting with a president who — amongst other things — must promise to fight corruption from the Babangida years till date, give Nigerians stable supply of electricity within 3 years, promise to review the salaries and emolument of federal legislators and executives in accordance with the law of Nigeria, must be ready to scrap the Senate, and must not have held more than one political office in the past.

“The online voting was so that these diasporic groups could identify a presidential candidate who met their criteria; a candidate they could throw their weight behind for the forthcoming elections. They are clear that Nigeria cannot continue the way it has and not be completely annihilated by greed, avarice and corruption. They have pledged to support whoever emerged successful in this election — creating awareness, speaking with their family members and friends in Nigeria, and supporting the cause in every way necessary.

“Their demands from the president they want to see in 2019 seemed to tie almost identically with the vision of the Take it Back Movement, so it was important for us to align ourselves with such progressive and forward thinking individuals — people who are seemingly ready to take it back no matter where they are in the world.

“We are proud of our supporters who came out en masse, participating and dominating the ninety-minute voting session with a unanimous call for our presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, to lead the way into a better Nigeria.  Your rallying and unwavering support is the reason this race must continue all the way to Aso Rock, and we are glad that today, we have yet another body of passionate Nigerians joining us in this journey. Your determination has shown one thing only — Nigeria MUST progress!”

What Happens When America Locks Its Doors to Nigerians Going to Give Birth?

0

‘It’s basically the culture of middle-class Nigerians at this point – have your children in the US. What better gift to give your child than a US passport? It’s become a staple. Bankers, doctors, management consultants, business developers, communications officers, journalists, writers, artists – everyone who works a job with a middle-class income. Even those who don’t have the money take loans to get it done.

There are reasons for this quest for US citizenship, of course. On the surface is bragging rights. Who wants to be the silent one in the group when everyone is talking about birthing outside the country? We all want to be a part of the conversation. The kids, too, will have something to say. This reminds of me of a friend of mine from secondary school who would bring along with him to school his birth certificate issued by some hospital in Massachusetts. He’d show everyone: See, I was born in Massachusetts.

But, to be honest, other reasons, some of them logical, exist. How, for instance, the state of things in the country is a mess. Shootings have become a regular occurrence in Abuja. People working in their offices or commuting around the city only to be confronted by teargas and the sounds of bullets. How many Nigerians have died in Kaduna in the past week? The police, charged with the protection of human lives, become people we need protection from. People die after being rejected by hospitals understaffed with exhausted doctors. Rush hour is every hour in Lagos. The roads are awful and the governor is busy strutting around with his waist trainer. No one with the option would want their offspring born into this.

What’s even worse is how these problems are nothing new. They’ve been there since forever. And there’s no relief in sight. Definitely doesn’t look like things will be better in the future. In fact, looks more like things’ll get worse. It makes perfect sense then that people want to secure the future of their kids.

Sure, America has its own problems. You hear of the racism and your jaw is on the floor. Especially with Trump and his obsession with (white) nationalism. His people with their red MAGA hats looking for any excuse trample upon you. There’s also the problem of integration. Are you aware of the problem black immigrants face? Besides the ostracism from wypipo, African-Americans, too, have begun using the term “Descendants-of-Slaves” in a bid to separate themselves from African immigrants. They (African immigrants) are getting opportunities DOS should be getting, they say, and that’s just unfair. Lost in a sea of difference, far from home, African immigrants are often stuck in some kind of limbo. Not accepted here but can’t go back to where you’re coming from, either. But all these can seem inconsequential when every day in your own country is a different trauma. It was Warsan Shire who said no one leaves home unless/ home is the mouth of a shark … you only leave home/ when home won’t let you stay.

Nigeria has made us so de-sensitized to the worst things about mankind. We’ve somehow learned to make inhumanity perfectly human. Like how the Nigerian Army shot and killed protesters in Abuja and people said, Well, they were throwing stones, as if stones and bullets are somehow the same. As if people somehow deserve to be killed because they threw stones at those charged with ensuring their security. Or, the people who died, were they not Nigerians? Look, also, how we’ve made ourselves into a society completely lost in self-interest. It’s like we’re all crammed into a bucket and everyone is trying to make it out. All man for himself. Hence, the lust for wealth. That it is often at the expense of another human is a negligible matter. You see yahoo-yahoo boys on Twitter justify their “hustle” with lines like The government is stealing and no one is attacking them? What’s the difference between a yahoo boy and our rulers in Nigeria? (That’s a direct quote.) Nigeria has taught us that two wrongs, or even more, makes a right.

It makes sense that people want to give their children an out. No prisoner wants his child to be born in prison.

But now that the US President Donald Trump has said he wants to close the doors, though, what’s the alternative? Other countries granting birthright citizenship? Canada? Mexico? Brazil? And what if they, too, decide to close their doors? We’ll find another country? To be honest, I have no idea either. I just know the option of running is not a sustainable one. Especially since it’s not an option open to everyone.
