Naira Marley Escapes Punishment as Lagos Govt Pardons Him For Violating Lockdown Order

Controversial Nigerian singer Naira Marley has been pardoned by the Lagos State government for violating its lockdown order.

Naira Marley was called in for questioning after attending the controversial birthday party (in violation of Lagos State government’s social distancing order) that landed Nollywood actress Funke Akindele and her husband JJC Skillz in police net.

Well, things took a turned for the better for him as the State has agreed to drop all charges.

Naira Marley was called in for questioning after after he violated Lagos State government’s lockdown order by attending a party.

The singer was arraigned in a magistrate court today being Wednesday, April 8, 2020, where he was pardoned on three conditions alongside the two other defendants, Lagos-based politician, Babatunde Gbadamosi and his wife.

The terms of the release demands that Naira Marley and the other two defendants must:

  • Write a formal apology to the Government of Lagos State which will solidify the remorsefulness shown by them.
  • Give an undertaking in writing that they will continue to comply with the directives of Mr President and Mr Governor which is the subject matter of the case before the court.
  • Agree to go on 14 days isolation to protect other members of the public from any likely danger as a precaution for the danger which the state believes they’ve put themselves by attending a gathering exceeding 20 persons.

During his arraignment in court, Marley received a huge show of support from his loyal fans known as ‘Marlians’ who came out in masses to witness his trial.
