Nigerian Catholic priest, Fr. Kelvin Ugwu, has reacted to the trending video of single women who wore wedding gowns while praying for husbands at a spiritual event.
It was reported days ago that some Nigerian ladies had stirred reactions online after they attended a faith-testing prayer service wearing wedding gowns.
The prayer service had in attendance Nollywood actress Chacha Eke, who came with her husband, Austin Faani, and was the guest lecturer.
In the video posted to the movie star’s Instagram page, all the ladies were seen wearing bridal gowns as they prayed fervently for their spouses.
The video drew mixed reactions, as many questioned if the ladies’ characters were also tested.
Reacting to it via his Facebook page, the clergyman condemned the act and questioned why men weren’t made to wear wedding suits and pray for wives.
Slamming churches that conduct such things, he stated that it wasn’t Christ-like and disgusting.
He pointed out how people who desire to be Ph.D. holders but are yet to enter school could also exercise their faith by wearing graduation gowns and caps and holding prayer sessions.
The clergyman further noted how it is becoming a trend to do so, as he voiced out that the more we keep quiet, the more it will be seen as normal.

“Since those looking for husbands must wear wedding gowns to claim it in faith.
Those who have not entered school but hoping to have their PhDs should borrow graduation gowns and caps, during the 8 a.m. service this coming Sunday to claim it in faith.
Those aspiring to be nurses or doctors should come to church next Sunday with everything doctors use. Come and claim it in faith.
Women aspiring to go to Omugwo (a traditional Igbo custom for postpartum care by the mother of the couple) should come with wrappers and baby bathing buckets with baby powder.
And the biggest one, those seeking to be the next Tinubu, should wear their cap and eyeglasses during the 10 a.m. service.

It is now becoming a trend and the more we keep quiet, it will soon be seen as normal.
To all those churches asking women to wear wedding gowns to church so they can pray to have husbands, what you are doing is not Christian. In fact, it is disgusting.
What sort of desperation is this?
Why are you not asking the men to put on wedding suits and pray for wives?
And by the way, why do you need them to put on wedding gowns, is that what makes the marriage?
And to those who gladly hire wedding gowns and wear them to church because you were told that it would connect you to your husbands, let me ask you this…
When you pray for husbands, what exactly are you telling God to do?
That he should suspend the reasoning and choosing capacity of the type of man you want (and it usually rich men you want) so that even when your attitudes, character, and personality are not what he wants, he will close his eyes to all of them and marry you?”.
