Is courtship meant to last long before marriage? The answer is “yes,” for so many, while others believe it’s a waste of time dating someone for long.

Veteran Nollywood Actor, Kenneth Okonkwo, recently advised ladies against certain choices of men. He took to his Facebook page with these words:

“Absolutely, no man needs to date you for years to know if you’re marriageable or not. Men almost certainly know what they want from a woman even before they approach her.

My advice to ladies looking to find life partners is this; always be yourself. Make sure you’re happy and enjoying the relationship and not pretending so as to please the man you’re dating.

If it’s not you, it’s not you and there’s absolutely nothing you can do about it. It’s not about you. It’s about him and where he’s placed you in his heart.

    Stop stressing it.”

He has told ladies to stop living a life of pretence with the aim of pleasing a man, and I think he is right.

No matter how good you try to be as a lady, a man who doesn’t want you, will obviously have excuses. You can never be devoid of faults, never.  Few months is enough for a man to know if he wants to observe you for a little more time, and of course, in the direction of marriage.

Some men will waste your years in the name of courtship, and finally, end up dumping you for someone they met two weeks ago. To further put you in the line of shock, they’ll go ahead to tie the knot with that same person they met a few weeks ago.

Several stories of heartbreak in such a manner keep repeating themselves.

I believe ladies should be careful while courting certain men. They should know when to leave, and when to stay.
